Gender Socialization
  Gender  acculturation refers to the process individuals, primarily in early childhood,  be taught what is expect of them in terms of their  sexual urge. For example, girls   ar taught to be domesticated, while boys are taught to be active. This was first taught to individuals by their family, as parents would show their children the  adjust path to go. Children would further  keep an eye on more about their  sexual urge  spots through their peers and, most importantly, the media. However, with the speedy growth in  engine room media plays a larger role in shaping our  sexual practice identities. We now look onto the media to  split up us how we are  pass judgment to behave, dress and talk, as what the media portrays we as a society  judge to replicate.\nThe media reflects and exaggerates the already existing gender roles. For example, men have  unceasingly been  depicted as macho, so the media creates action figures and movies emulating this pre-existing  nonion. The media plays on s   ocietys expectations of different gender identities. The medias  delineation of what each genders identity should be heavily influences how we think of ourselves; if  whatsoever person feels that if they arent acting womanly or masculine  affluent that something is wrong with them.\nMedia has the strongest influences over our ideals of beauty. This  particularly is targeted strongly towards women. Women are portrayed to be skinny, beautiful, fair in complexion, caring and domesticated. While in reality the women shown in the media are on average  by and large significantly taller and slimmer than actual females. The medias ideals of what a beautiful woman should be causes countless of females to undergo extreme point dieting and surgeries in  rewrite to fit into what the media deems appropriate. In 2010, 91% of cosmetic surgical procedures were performed on women. At least 50% of teenaged girls have had problems with anorexia and bulimia.
